Here are parts through the manga series that differ from the Anime. This page will give you an idea of what changed in the Anime, and what the major differences between the Anime and the Manga are. The first to point our would be that the Manga has much more detailed images. The storyline in the Manga is much more mature and much deeper. The Manga contains suicide, and plenty of violence (much more compared to the Anime). The monsters/youmas/daimons/ect, are drawn in much greater detail as well. They are far scarier in the manga. However nothing in the Manga would scare anyone over the age of 10. The Manga is split into 18 Volumes or "tankobon" there are 52 acts in the 18 Tankubon. Each set of Tankubon from one part of the series... Tankubon/Vol. 01-04, Acts 01-13: Sailor Moon Tankubon/Vol. 04-07, Acts 13-23: Sailor Moon R Tankubon/Vol. 07-10, Acts 24-33: Sailor Moon S Tankubon/Vol. 11-14 Acts 34-42: Sailor Moon SuperS Tankubon/Vol. 15-18, Acts 43-52: sailor Moon Sailor Stars As Well there were some specials

Specials: Tankubon/Vol. 10: Chibiusa's Pictorial Diary Tankubon/Vol. 11: Kaguya Hime no Koibito (Kaguya Hime's Lover) Tankubon/Vol. 11: Memories of Casa Blanca Tankubon/Vol. 13: Makoto's Depression Tankubon/Vol. 13: Ami's First Love Tankubon/Vol. 13: Rei and Minako's Battle at the Female School Tankubon/Vol. 15: Chibiusa's Pictorial Diary Tankubon/Vol. 17: Chibiusa's Pictorial Diary

Now onto the differences....

Sailor Moon: The Manga moves much faster then the Anime. It does not drag on and covers all the points fairly quickly. The storylines between the Anime and the Manga are very closely paralleled. One of the major differences is that the Senshi kills the enemies. Mars killed Jadeite, Jupiter killed Nephrite, Venus killed Zoisite, and Moon killed Kunzite. The Manga also does more into depth about the past and The Silver Millennium. It takes about how the four Generals were originally Prince Endymions friends and protectors, then they defected to the Dark Kingdom. It would also be important to note that the four generals all had a love for one of the Senshi, Mercury and Zoisite, Mars and Jadeite, Jupiter and Nephrite and finally Venus and Kunzite. When the Generals were killed they became the four stones they represent. Beryl gave these stones to Endymion, when he was under her control, to protect him. When the Senshi go to the Moon, they find a sword on the ground. Sailor Venus takes the sword. Later Sailor Venus actually uses the sword to kill Queen Beryl! Thus making Queen Metallia the major enemy. Sailor Moon uses the sword to kill Evil Prince Endymion then, she commits suicide. The Senshi give up their lives to awaken Sailor Moon then, Sailor Moon Kills Metallia, using the ginzuishou, which blossoms into a flower shape, and is used with the Moon Stick.

Sailor Moon R: Once again, The Manga in this section was a compressed version of the Anime. Some people find that it was not a very good set in the Manga. Moon Princess Halation ended every battle, including the fight against Death Phantom. Some of the changes in the Manga were that the entire Alien part was only in the Anime. You never even hear of Ail or Ann in the Manga. As well the Ayakashi Sisters were not healed, they were killed by Sailor Moon. However, before they are killed the sisters kidnap Mercury, Mars and Jupiter. So only Sailor Moon, Chibi-Usa, and Tuxedo Kamen travel to the future. Saffir does not turn good as he does in the Anime, he remains under Wiseman’s control. He is killed by Demando. Rubeus is killed by Wiseman, and Esmeraude is killed by the Senshi. Demando is killed by Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Kamen. Sailor Pluto plays a much larger roll in the Manga then in the Anime and at the end of the R series she uses her forbidden attack, the Time Stop. Chibi-Usa becomes Sailor Chibi-Moon in R, unlike the Anime and Diana arrives in the Manga early as well. How Black Lady becomes Chibi-Usa again is different in the Manga. When Pluto Dies, Chibi-Usa remembers how Pluto was her only friend. She starts to cry and becomes Sailor Chibi-Moon.

Sailor Moon S: Many find this section, as with the Anime to be the best part. The two are very close in story. The three talismans are already found, the outer Senshi knew about them. The outer Senshi are very hostile to the Inner Senshi in the beginning. The Marine Cathedral, were the heart crystals of Uranus and Neptune were taken in the Anime is explained to be where Michiru got her violin. As well, Neptune and Uranus accepted Sailor Moon as the Princess right away unlike in the Anime were they were very questionable. The section of the Manga goes into great depth about the end of the Moon Kingdom and the destruction of the Dark Kingdom. In other words, the three talismans summon Sailor Saturn, they don't form the Holy Grail. The Witches 5 collect the energy, however they have one-shot deals unlike in the Anime. Mistress 9 is formed when Hotaru takes Chibi-Usa's Silver Crystal. The power of the crystal makes Hotaru's Daimon side break loose, creating Mistress 9. Hotaru gives Chibi-Usa her Crystal and she rejoins the battle. Super Sailor Chibi-Moon is created when the Holy Grail splits into two. Super Sailor Chibi-Moon and Super Sailor Moon Destroy Mistress 9. Sailor Saturn is then summoned, as on the moon, by the three talismans joining. She begins to destroy everything on earth to rid it of all the evil. She tells Pluto to seal her in the Time Portal (the only way to stop her attack). Pluto does so, and Sailor Saturn is killed. Sailor Moon revives Hotaru, and all the people of the earth, with the power of the Holy Grail. At that time Sailor Moon and the others finally discover that the true Messiah was Serenity all along.

Sailor Moon SuperS: This section of the Manga, compared to the Anime, was externally good. The section did not focus totally on Chibi-Usa, it covered a much border area. This was also the only part of the Manga where the enemies were not killed (The Amazoness Quartet). Many of the character who were animals in the Anime, and earlier sections of the Manga were now in their human forms. The Senshi get their Super Powers in this section as well, from their guardians. This excludes Mars, Venus and the Outers. Mars got her power-up from the human forms of Phobos and Deimos, Venus got her power-up from Artemis and Saturn gave the power-up to the Outers (her parents). The Pre-Dark Kingdom past is shown as well in this section. The Senshi are revealed to be Princesses of their planets. There are also spots were they show the future and Neo-Lady Serenity (Chibi-Usa). This section of the Manga was very complex and confusing. If you skipped any pages you would be totally lost. The Senshi get their "Sailor Star" and "Princess" forms in this section as well, and Super Sailor Moon becomes, Eternal Sailor Moon. Finally, all the enemies are destroyed in the SS section, none are dragged into Sailor Stars.

Sailor Moon Sailor Stars: This section of the Manga is much like the Anime. The Senshi are facing their most dangerous enemies, other Senshi. The Senshi discover that they are not the only senshi in the Universe. There are Senshi for all the planets in the Universe and they are not all friendly. The Manga is much more violent then the Manga, and all the Senshi, Mamoru, and the Cats are killed in this Section. The ememies are explained much better in the Manga. Galaxia is one of the Senshi (the one representing the Galaxy). She was trying to find a Planet to call home, her home Planet. During her search something goes wrong and she becomes possessed by Chaos. In this state she starts to take over the planets, as she does so she gets a new Senshi on her side (Anima mates). Mamoru is captured by Galaxia part way through the section. He is later pushed off a cliff and killed, at this time Chibi-Usa disappears. All the Senshi are killed off rather quickly in the Manga, leaving only Sailor Moon, ChibiChibi, Kakyu and Galaxia (The most powerful Senshi) to fight. Galaxia is destroyed by the remaining Senshi, after ChibiChibi becomes Sailor Cosmos (The light of Hope). At the end of the Manga, Mamoru and Usagi get married, however the date is unknown. That is how the Manga ends.
